Missions

Child Focus, the Foundation for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children, is a private organisation, recognised as being of public interest that has been operational since March 31st 1998.

Child Focus'mission, both at national and international level, is on the one hand to actively support investigations into the disappearance, abduction or sexual exploitation of children and on the other hand, the research in, prevention of and in general the fight against these phenomena.

Child Focus always acts solely in the interests of children.

To combat the sexual exploitation of minors, the Foundation is also involved, inter alia, in action against child pornography on the Internet.

In 2002 and after two years' experience in handling these reports and meeting the actors involved in the fight against child pornography on the Internet, Child Focus decided to create a specific site related to this problem. The site was also created within the scope of the fight of the European Commission of illegal content on the Internet and in the prevention of harmful content on the Internet.

www.stopchildporno.be is a civil hotline, registered in Belgium, operated and managed by Child Focus.

Child Focus works in close collaboration with the Federal Police and Judicial Authorities, based on a co-operation agreement. Child Focus itself is not entitled to investigate violations of Law in this field. It however serves as a centre of expertise assisting the Authorities to efficiently perform their tasks in this area.

The objective of this site and the related awareness-campaign is to create a and/or strengthen the sense of responsibility by Internet users by providing them with useful information concerning the problem of child pornography on the Internet and allowing them to report these facts, anonymously if they wish.
